thefacebook.com has now been expanded to include Stanford and Columbia. the Harvard guy somehow got all the information about dorms and classes and integrated it into his system. i’m a little worried about that, because if people start signing up for his system, then we may have a little trouble in differentiating ourselves and stealing away his critical mass. i think we can offer a superior product by offering axess integration among other things, but we’ll need to do this fast. so what do we do now and what steps do we need to take?

“I’m a little worried about” how he was able to get information about dorms and classes without being a student.
However, if he is offering all the services we need, I say let him do the dirty work. We could partner with him to provide better Stanford localization and editors, but if he’s got a good system and is seemingly incorporating Stanford for free, then great!
Thefacebook.com may be NYASNS (not Yet another social networking service) as I describe my experience using the service on my blog.
The service is fast and slick, and appears tailored well for Stanford specifically.
