As long as we have text on a display, we should make it do double-duty: this font changes color and shape based on the weather in a certain location–we could do similar things, though since all of our users are in the same place, they already know the weather…Color is also a good way to show “hotness” of an event, since there is a direct analogy to “red-hot” coals/grill/chili peppers.

In many ways this reminds me of the “Search Engine Zeitgeist”, which is a remarkably elegant way of showing information without raster graphics–Tufte would be proud of the “high-resolution”.
