Tying in to Paul Rankin’s comment that “locations are the most important”–and the thoughts I had of “hot spots” and “Bob: go to the Quad, our system says something is happening”–there is a cool service being developed over at Berkeley that allows for collaboratively-filtered webcamming.
Basically this means that from Roy Pea’s 360-degree camera, users (meaning ALL users online at one time) could determine where the important part was. Sure, you could just show the entire panorama; but we’re concerned with making information RELEVANT, not just available.
It also gives users some control of the system, and makes it less an evil-empire style project, and more a community service.
