A recent NYT article shows that new yorkers don’t like their plasma screens. Apparently the biggest concern is that drivers will get distracted from the bright light of the screen… you know, because they would hate to see it escalate to the point where there’s a giant TV screen in times square. Frankly, that would be unacceptable. =]

That’s huge–and I think it reinforces our mandate to keep the content of the screens informative, helpful to the community, and subtle. No one would complain if the screen helped them catch a train or bus they would have missed otherwise.

As one woman commented, it IS the future–but we can make sure the future is pleasant.

    Pssyah, neo-luddites.

Where I get distracted is trying to discern whether I’m watching Monsters Inc. or Finding Nemo in the head-rest TV of the Escalade gliding past me, one freeway lane over.
