Personalization Process
12Jan04
We’ve made a lot of fancy statements about how “personalization” is the next step for E@S, but have yet to implement it. Much of the problem is that web-based personalization is pretty advanced technology. But “personalization” is really quite similar to “studentization”, another goal of ours, and that is a goal within reach. All it takes is a process of analyzing the users we serve and continually revising our style to fit their needs, as explained in a recent Boxes and Arrows article:
Know your goals and stay focused on long-term improvements by following these steps:
- Define your business goals.
- Convert your business goals into personalization business requirements.
- Convert your business requirements into use cases.
- Define the user profile and formally define the user segment(s).
- Determine which metrics you will use to evaluate the initiative.
- Implement.
- Repeat.
