Google’s Blender
An interesting article at Reuters summarizes Sergey and Larry’s talk at TED about the “Google Top 100″ new ideas; the “high-density clusters” of engineers that sparks innovation; and its group-supporting software and room design.
Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, addressing a technology conference in Monterey, California, on Saturday, said they encourage their employees to […]
So, knowing the various intellectual affinities for robotics and web technology be many of the ISIS crew, I was wondering if we might be able to help my friend with developing and/or architecting his live robot design concept.
His name is Ridha Azaiz, a graduating high school senior in Germany and a rising star is robotics […]
thefacebook.com
thefacebook.com has now been expanded to include Stanford and Columbia. the Harvard guy somehow got all the information about dorms and classes and integrated it into his system. i’m a little worried about that, because if people start signing up for his system, then we may have a little trouble in differentiating ourselves and stealing […]
Club Nexus Whitepaper
While talking about a possible online Facebook/networking site at the meeting Tuesday, Club Nexus came up as an example that had been already tried at Stanford. Here’s a link that describes Club Nexus in detail for those not present at the time to experience it (in my opinion, you didn’t miss much…): A social network […]
Blender Blog Interface Prototype
The current (2/27/04) Blender blog interface prototype is here: http://ryskamp.org/misc/groupsProto/01.html. This is for development purposes only, as it currently only looks and works decent in a new Apple Safari browser.
However, this is how the individual entry page should look: Screenshot. Comments are welcome on this.
A few folks who would be interested in this project and would have tremendous insights. We should talk to them once we get things running.
Robert Sutton: MS&E prof at Stanford and did research on this before.
David Kelley because he just sees things the rest of us don’t.
Larry Leifer […]
Long Island Community College
We need funding like this for our little incubator.
“In the past year, the college has amassed $5.4 million in state and federal funds for its business incubator that will specialize in assisting design firms in Long Island City.”
The business incubator focuses on Long Island City design firms, but also offers help to other New […]
Froogle Wireless
Google has introduced a wireless version of their shopping service, Froogle. The interface is clean, the functionality simple. It is a perfect example of a service that is more useful once made mobile. Perhaps events@stanford will be the same way…
The question then stands: how long will it take us to beat them? Steve?
TED is on now
TED, the ultimate emerging tech/worldview fest is on now in Monterey.
Thoughts about the Facebook
I have been thinking about the Facebook idea for a bit and I am starting to like the idea a lot. Though there is some duplication with systems like Orkut, having a way of seeing what people you are taking classes will make it a lot easier to get to know people in your major […]
